"Climate change causes 36,700 deaths in the UK"

The problem is, it's the wrong kind of climate change. Those were the additional deaths caused by the "lethal cold snap ... between last December and March 2009".

The problem with our corner of the world is that it is a climatic anomaly. If global warming caused the Gulf Stream to stop (That's IF there's global warming and IF it could have this effect), then the climate here would get much colder indeed - the seas would freeze in the winter - while the rest of the world would get warmer. So we could be doomed either way.

Just wait until the volcano in Alaska erupts, even though the ash will cause a bit of global cooling, the libs will spin it to make it sound like drilling for oil caused the eruption and it'll be all Palin's and Bush's fault.

It used to be about 25,000 a year excess winter deaths. The reason it is up is not "global warming" but the rising real cost of electricity. That is caused by all our windmillery. The average household now pays £1,300 in direct electricity costs when it could be a quarter of that. Most of these deaths, overwhelmingly of pensioners so it doesn't matter, are the direct & deliberate result of eco-fascism in government preventing the building of nuclear plants. Say what you like about Stalin but when he killed his millions it was to build a better, richer society, not like ours who do it to destroy our future. If you take it as about 20,000 preventable deaths a year since the early 70s it doesn't match Stalin but had a bigger population.

@NC It's not windmillery, it's the private electricity companies charging what the market will bear - it's not competition, it's a lightly regulated cartel.
